Getting started
Team access to your store
How our team gets access to the keyplace app in your store, what we never ask for and how to remove our access.
In short
To set keyplace up for you, our team needs access to the app in your store.
We use a Shopify collaborator account with access to the keyplace app only.
We can't see your orders or your customer list.
We never ask for your password or 2FA codes (codes from two-step login).
You can revoke our access at any time.
How to give us access
It takes three steps:
Copy your collaborator code. In Shopify admin, go to Settings and click Users (in some stores, Users & permissions). Then click Security. Click the 4-digit code to copy it.
Send us the code in keyplace. After you install, you'll find the We set it up for you screen in keyplace. Read what we do, give your consent, paste the code and send it. Our team gets an alert.
Accept our request. We send you a collaborator request from our Shopify Partner account. In Shopify admin, go to Settings and click Users (or Users & permissions). Then click Requests and open our request. In Roles, check that it covers the keyplace app only. Then click Accept request.
Then you save the ready-made block in your theme editor. See Add the keyplace block to your theme.
What our access covers
We ask for access to the keyplace app only. No orders, customers or theme.
With it, we set the tone, suggested questions, knowledge and widget look. We don't change your products, prices or checkout.
Our rules
Shopify requires two-step login (2FA) for collaborator accounts.
We never ask for your password or 2FA codes. The 4-digit collaborator code is not a 2FA code. It only lets us send you a request.
We don't accept passwords, 2FA codes, customer exports or order exports, by email or on Slack. If you send any of these by mistake, we won't open them. Delete the message and change your password.
We never sign in as your store. We work only through our collaborator account.
Changes to settings, questions and answers, and setup go to the change log. It shows who made each change and when.
When our work in your store ends, we remove our access ourselves. Once a month, we review all our store access.
Remove our access
You can do this at any time in Shopify admin:
Go to Settings and click Users (or Users & permissions).
Click the name of each collaborator account from our team.
Click Remove (the button may show the collaborator's name). In some stores, it's under Actions > Remove.
Click Remove again to confirm.
Shopify removes the account for good. If you want our help again later, we send you a new request.
See what we changed
In keyplace, open Settings and go to the change log. It lists changes to settings, the app language, questions and answers, and setup. For each change, you see who made it and when. That can be the store owner, staff, a collaborator or our team.
For settings, the log shows which section changed, not the values. We keep entries for 12 months.
Common questions
Can you see my orders or customers?
No. We can't see your orders or your customer list. Our access covers the keyplace app only.
Why do you need access at all?
Our team sets keyplace up for you on every plan. We read your products, shipping, returns and store pages. Then we set the tone, suggested questions, knowledge and widget look.
Is it safe to share the 4-digit code?
Shopify asks you to give this code to your collaborator. With it, we can only send you a request. You decide whether to accept it. Want an old code to stop working? Open the same Security page. In Collaborators, click Generate new code.
