Getting started

Add the keyplace block to your theme

You save the ready-made keyplace block in your theme editor once. Our team sets up the rest.

In short

  • keyplace works on your product page as a block in your theme.

  • Our team sets the tone, suggested questions, knowledge and widget look.

  • You save the ready-made block in your theme editor. You don't edit any theme code.

  • Each theme has its own blocks. Shoppers see your published theme.

  • Until a shopper starts typing, your product page loads only a small script.

Your part of the setup

You have four steps:

  1. Install keyplace from the Shopify App Store.

  2. Give consent for our work and send us your collaborator code.

  3. Accept our request for keyplace-only access.

  4. Save the ready-made block in your theme editor.

We do the rest. See What we do for you and Team access to your store.

Save the block step by step

  1. In the keyplace app, open Home.

  2. Next to Add the widget to your product page, click Theme editor. The theme editor opens your product template and adds the keyplace block. If you don't see it, check the section below.

  3. Check that the Ask about product block sits in the product information section. You can drag it elsewhere, for example under the price or the buy buttons.

  4. Click Save in the theme editor to keep the change.

  5. Open a product page in your store. You should see the keyplace field with suggested questions.

Once the widget shows in your store, Home marks this step as done. In Settings > Widget you'll see the status “The widget is live”.

If the widget doesn't show up or doesn't answer

Usually it's one of these:

  • Settings > Widget says “The widget isn't showing yet”. Add the Ask about product block to your product template in the theme editor. Then click Save.

  • You saved the block in a different theme. Add it to your published theme too.

  • keyplace is paused. While it's paused, the widget shows a short message and doesn't answer. See Pause or uninstall keyplace.

Hide the widget on one product

In the theme editor, create a separate product template without the keyplace block. Then, in Shopify, assign that template to the product where you don't want the widget.

Common questions

Do I need to edit my theme code?

No. You only save the ready-made block in the theme editor. We don't change your products, prices or checkout.

Will keyplace slow down my product page?

Your product page loads a small script. The rest of the widget loads only when a shopper starts typing. Guard also checks that keyplace loads and the page has no errors.

Can't find your question?
